Q3. How can I collaboration with external users?
if those external users only want to consume the data you produce, then you can invite them on your cloud environment, by using some of our platform roles, such as Business Innovation or Industry Innovation. If the external users are identified as suppliers, or partners, then it is recommended that they subscribe to the cloud from their location, and then you invite them to collaborate on your tenant, once they have their own set of licenses.
Q4. Can I stop the service during the year and still keep my cloud instance and data?
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform and all data is maintained providing at least 1 license of Platform Contributor on the cloud is active.
3D Data can be extracted as 3DXML files at any time and these can be backed-up locally (Collaborative Space export). No specific license required except PCS-OC.
Customers have the possibility to subscribe to a plan for a quarter / partial term, freeze the subscription for any reason, and re-activate it in future time / next year, for example when project is back. This unique licensing flexibility provides additional savings and agility.
Q5. Is it possible to work with independent contractors who have their own CATIA on the Cloud licenses? For example, a cloud customer who contracts with a designer (who has his own CATIA license) and wants to include that contractor in their cloud to collaborate and work together?
Yes, this scenario is supported with CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud. A customer can invite contractors or partners who have their own CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE on the Cloud licenses to collaborate in its platform. Q6. Is it possible to reassign the license to another user after 30 days?
During the period of 30 days it is impossible to reassign licenses to another user unless it is based on special circumstances.
However after 30 days you may reassign the licenses to another user.
Q7. If I buy on premise, it is considered an investment and I am eligible for government grants. What is the alternative with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud?
We offer a PSC (Primary Service Charge) business model to our customers. Under standard accounting rules, companies have the flexibility to treat the PSC as CAPEX, if required.
Q8. Why move to the cloud if I have an IT infrastructure and appropriate resources (servers, admin, DB etc…)?
A lot of our customers do have an IT infrastructure, but they need more flexibility for their PLM solution (connection to their eco-system, need for new applications, start new innovative process, etc.). There is a strong interest in reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) by taking advantage of CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE. It also brings them flexibility and the opportunity to always benefit from best-so-far IT infrastructure (software?). Some customers also need to quickly deploy infrastructure for dedicated time-limited projects (such as research or marketing). They can take advantage of CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE on the cloud’s rapid and simple deployment, keeping on premise installation for “business as usual” activities.
Q9. Does a Private cloud solution exist?
Yes of course, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is available on a Private Cloud with a minimum of 50 users per environment.
Q1. How do I manage other CAD formats, including ECAD?
Other CAD formats can be imported and converted through dedicated converters which are available on the cloud (Pro-E, NX….). Available converters are the same as for On Premise.
Q3. How is the update of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and Apps on the cloud managed from one release to the other?
Prior to the General Availability of the new release, customers are notified through the support communities. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform update (data, licenses, P&O), is done automatically. The customer just has to update the Apps and/or the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher installed on his client machines.
Q4. How do I backup my data stored in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud to my local hard drive?
3D Data can be extracted as 3DXML files at any time and these can be backed-up locally (Collaborative Space export).
Q5. How do I exchange 3D data between an on premise installation, such as CATIA V5, and the CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE on the cloud?
CATIA V5 native formats can be exchanged. It is also possible through 3DXML export/import or STEP.

The value of Cloud is to make sure you are always on the latest version, therefore Dassault Systèmes manages the upward migration automatically during this release migration period.
